We desperately need “Something Rotten” now. Indeed, it is an escapist musical whose hilarity, celebration, and send up of musical theater and Shakespeare will whisk you away from our troubled world for about two-and-a-half hours, including an intermission.

I can honestly state that Something Rotten! remains one of my all-time favorite musicals. Though I’d first discovered it years ago, as Slow Burn’s beautifully crafted version commenced, I found myself fondly recalling many a key scene.

“Slow Burn Lights Up the Stage on each performance. “The Witches of Eastwick” was fun, the performances and stagecraft were excellent. All the performers were all-in at every moment, which gave the light comedy of the play much needed gravity.”

Our show opens with a bang! Literally. On a stark dark stage, framed by a mighty, pyramid-style fluorescent triangle, we witness premier Bodyguard Frank Farmer (Gabriell Salgado) take a shot at an Assassin (Timothy Mark Davis).

– Mindy Leaf for South Florida Theater Magazine

This show was a welcome surprise. Proving that just about anything can be made into a musical, this romantic thriller is the perfect combination of funny and scary, and a real audience pleaser from the get-go.

As Leo Frank, Justin Albinder delivers a captivating performance with incredible vocals. Mikayla Cohen encapsulates the character of Lucille, showing power and emotional depth. The dynamic between the two is deeply moving and creates a grounding point during the 2 hour and 30 minute show.

Despite its dark source, the musical Anastasia is an uplifting story befitting Disney’s legacy, morphing into a tale of hope and of a young woman discovering who she is and asserting her independence.

– Oline Cogdill for Florida Theater On Stage

This production of Anastasia is Slow Burn Theatre at its finest! The projection art and sets are flawless. The train scene, in which the train rotates while the countryside flies by is particularly well done. The ornate costumes are stunning.
